Importance of Internships
Work Experience Gives You Insights
If you are attending SDSU, you really need to balance your academic experience with some real-world internships. If you are getting a degree in finance or marketing, how do you really know that you will like those respective fields once you graduate and get a job. Trial those potential disciplines or jobs with 2-3 internships when you are in school. In addition to giving you work experience and networking contacts, you can really determine if that type of job or industry is right for you.
EMC Internship Overview
The EMC has one of the best internship programs in the nation. Students and employers alike benefit from the Entrepreneur Internship Program at San Diego State University's Entrepreneurial Management Center. Through partnerships with the local business community, the EMC fosters real-world opportunities for SDSU's graduate business students.
The EMC's internship program offers both for-profit and non-profit internships and provides graduate students with the opportunity to engage with an organization in the community. MBA and other graduate interns take part in the development of short and long-term strategy, competitive marketplace due diligence, and the research and final recommendations for action. Strategic projects range from operations, finance, and management to business development, research and marketing.

We also have internships for undergraduates through our WebCompass program. It is an undergraduate internship program that involves three colleges within San Diego State University. The goal of this semester long internship is to create a dynamic team of students from business, graphic/web design, and computer science to complete a website-based project for San Diego small companies or non-profits. The program is a great learning experience for both the students and organizations involved.
Internships through the EMC are paid and professionally monitored. If you have any questions, please contact Bernhard Schroeder or Adrienne White.
The Technology Transfer Office at SDSU, in partnership with the Entrepreneurial Management Center, offers internship opportunities for SDSU MBA students interested in understanding the process of transitioning a technology to the marketplace. Students involved with the Technology Transfer Office will gain valuable experience in serving as a licensing and marketing associate.
