Green Flight - University of North Dakota
Green Flight introduces a first-to-market proprietary technology to produce ‘JB100’ jet turbine fuel from domestically produced crop oils such as soybeans. Green Flight provides a renewable solution for the U.S. aviation market segment that consumes approximately 25 billion gallons of jet fuel per year. Key benefits to biojet fuel users include price stability of the biojet fuel, reduction in the greenhouse gaseous emissions, and decreased dependence on foreign oil. Through a strategic alliance with soybean processor Northland Mills, Inc. (Northland N.D.), Green Flight will develop a six million gallon demonstration production facility on the Northland Mills site. Green Flight’s proprietary technology solves the harsh temperature stability requirements for turbines operating at -50oF at 30,000 ft. Greenflight’s ‘JB100’ can also be used as an over-the-road transportation fuel in cold climates that are prohibitive to traditional biodiesel blends. Green Flight ‘JB100’ was developed by a team of scientists and business students along side professionals at the University of North Dakota and the Energy and Environmental Research Center both located in Grand Forks, ND.
