2011 Retreat

SDSU's Entrepreneurial Management Center (EMC) held its Sixth Annual Closely-Held and Family Business Retreat from April 15-16 at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe in Rancho Santa Fe, California.

The theme of this year's event was "Strategies for Moving Forward in Changing Times" and over 135 attendees from 63 companies participated in interactive workshops and sessions centered around matters such as social media marketing, healthcare reform, new employment laws, succession and tax considerations, and leadership.

Rob Slee, accomplished author and CEO of Midas Marketing, was our keynote speaker at the Friday Night Gala Dinner. He gave an inspiring and motivational talk about what companies and individuals are capable of achieving when they put their heads together to solve real-life problems. His views and ideas on the progression of "Marketing Ages" were truly refreshing and enlightening.

We want to thank all of our attendees and sponsors for making this year's retreat so sensational. For more information about what we provide at the EMC Business Forum or how we can help you and your business, please contact: Carmen Bianchi, Director at cbianchi@emc.sdsu.edu.

I believe the biggest challenge is to do things better than the next guy.
